wedding costumes

Who thought tradition could be boring?
This Chinese wedding was so much fun to attend! I thought the costumes were incredibly flamboyant and pleased the old folks^^

The flower girls also gave complimentary massages...
And this back drop was set up for guests to take polaroids.

pretty and painful

These shoes are too adorable.
I bought them in Australia while shopping with my girlfriend Nancy, days before departing the country.
They reminded me of something Miss Hepburn would have worn.

They arrived in the mail in Ottawa a couple of days ago and I was ecstatic about taking them for a stroll around the market.

My mom, sister and I started out our day in the city with my feet and pride in my shoes feeling just fine.

After about 10 mins of walking, I began to limp, 10 more mins later it felt as though someone was pouring vinegar into open wounds on my feet.

5 mins later I was sitting on a bench with my shoes off about to cry from the pain!

My mom dashed off to buy me bandaids and gave me her walmart-not-so-special flip flops.

I was so sad that these gorgeous shoes were doomed to go to waste.
That they would never get out there and see the world around them.

However, after trading shoes with my mom (even though the flip flops really didn't go with my dress) the painful shoes on me were blissfully painless on her.

I am so pleased my mom will wear them well and purchasing them was not all in vain.

a little bit of Brugge lace

My mom laughed as I put on this lace and walked out the door.
"you used to rip that off you're neck every time I put it on you and it cost a fortune!!!"
Apparently my 7 year old self did not like the pretty lace my mom purchased while vacationing in Brugge.
Of course, now I adore and just thank the sky and earth that it still fits.

fly in my coffee

While in Toronto

We sat on a little blue bench outside an adorable coffee shop called SQUIREL.
I was happily sipping my organic and delicious coffee until a fly committed suicide in it!
He flew straight into my cup and began to panic.
I tried to rescue him with my finger but I couldn't quite get him.
I persisted until it was too late and he passed away.
I flicked him out of my cup and onto the pavement.

I decided to tell the girl in the shop what had happened in hopes she might take pitty on me and give me another half a glass of coffee.

I told her that a fly had committed suicide in my hot beverage. She completely understood and cheerfully gave me another half a glass.

I returned outside to further discuss the situation with Peter.

Flys usually perch themselves in the sides of cups, they almost never nose plant right inside. This is why I feel it was an intentional act.

It was a little sad.

If we could do prom all over again...

We would have worn these glorious dresses.

3 equals disaster!

My mom, dad and sister came to meet me in Toronto and we spent a lovely evening together by the harbour.

The next morning we gave my dad all of the things we didn't need during the day and he put it in the car and went off to his meetings. The plan was to meet him much later that evening.

I went to go out onto the rooftop of the hotel and realized I had no shoes to wear.
Good start!

I borrowed my mom's and walked up to Urban Outfitters near the Eaton's Centre. It was only a 20 minute walk and was really enjoyable so I soon forgot that I would be buying totally un-nesesary shoes.
I found some cute sandals for under $10 and made my way back to the hotel.
We walked over to Kensington in the hot sun to get some lunch at the vegan/vegetarian/trendy/rude "herbivore."
We had just ordered, paid and were waiting in line when my sister said "i don't feel very well I'm going to sit." That turned into her lips turning blue and passing out, throwing up into a big bowl used to mix the customers salads and putting damp paper napkins on her head.

30 mins later we walked across the street to get her some ice cream and a cooler fan to sit under.

we though, "how unlucky, first no shoes, then fainting, what next?"

We decided that seeing "Eat, Pray, Love," and being inside a cool cinema would be the best way to spend the rest of the day.
We caught the tram to the Spadina station and ran for the train.

With all the practise running for trains in Seoul, I jumped on first and felt the doors close on my back.

I turned around and saw their looks of dismay and just just mouthed "BLOOR"

I got off 3 stations later and waited, waited, cursed that there's no signal inside the Toronto subways, waited, waited, saw my mom and brittney walk by

Horray!

Bad things only come in three's, so the story ends here.

Corduroy Magazine

After viewing my baby sisters soon to be apartment in the lovely Elgin area in Ottawa, we took a stroll to check out the local shops. The first shop we went in was "Mags and Fags," a massive selection of magazines, including my favourite, "Corduroy."

what is love?

this is love

stencil for you

Creative with out actually being talented

I was hoping to get into silk screening in order to design cute stationary and envelopes to send off to all of my long distance loved ones. This was inspired from a wedding I went to where the bride designed and screened all of the invitations, seating labels and gift candels.

However, after a detailed chat with a Wallacks Art store employee, I felt discouraged.
Discouraged by the seeming complications of silk screening and by the harsh price.
In adition, I realized it's probably best for people who can draw, something I'm rather crap at.

Thinking of an alternative, I turned to letter stencils and black paint.
While spending another wonderful unemployed (retired traveler) summer day full of time or arts and crafts, I began to make some envelopes for letters.

a cheaper and easier alternative than buying and using a silk screen for this purpose.

My baby sister is as sweet as pie.
So I thought I'd inform her about that in a stencil present for her to display in her new apartment for the school year.
