an affordable sharing platter

I love getting sharing platters at restaurants, but I also love to make them at home.
My new love for prosciutto has left me no choice but stop calling myself 'vegetarian.'
I get bad belly aches from eating it, but I feel it's worth it^^
ps: i'm also lactose intolerant so cheese isn't the best idea either but I can't live without it!

I got it from my mama

All of the clothes I used to make fun of in my moms closet when I was young, are now the things I enthusiastically thank her for keeping.
This jacket is just one of many examples.
Thank you mom, for keep the coolest jacket ever!

New York Free Drinks Fashion Week

"Oh I'm with Corduroy Magazine!"
The week of shows and parties was incredibly fun and saved us a lot of money on drinks.

Mandy Coon at Milk Studios
G Star
It felt more like going to a crowded concert than a fashion show. The crowds were a bit of a nuisance but the clothes were quite nice and the DJ was great!
Yigal Azrouel
a very intimate show, which made it my favourite by far.
In addition, Waris was sitting the opposite side from us, which i found really exciting!

I have no pictures from Isaac Mizrahi. It was one of the posher ones we went to and I wanted to look 'too cool to snap snap.' It was lovely except for the awful mixing the DJ was doing. For me a lot about the show has to do with the music! The entrance to this show got us some free Starbucks mochas and magazines, which we put to fantastic use on the long and gruelling subway ride back to Brooklyn.

ART in CHELSEA
A fabulous party in a gallery in Chelsea.
The most incredible food, wine and cocktails all for free.

FASHION NIGHT OUT
This was the only picture I took during the night because it was so crazy! All the boutiques were open and serving complimentary drinks. The line ups to the bar was a huge deterrent to want to drink.
My one of my favourite activities happens to be 'people watching' and it was the right place to be for admiring outrageous and inspiring outfits.

Across the Williamsburg bridge

I decided to walk home from the lower east side out of a detest for the G train. Not just the G train, the whole New York subway system and it's unpredictability.  Secretly, partly because of my guilt for finishing the massive and delicious piece of artichoke pizza.
It only took an hour! Half an hour to Bedford and then another half an hour to home. It helped that the weather was gorgeous and my playlist was full of Ray LaMontagne.
I also broke the walk up by browsing a sweet weekend Flea Market in Williamsburg.

In the East Village, $4.25 gets you a massive slice of artichoke and spinach pizza.
Thank you Jessie for introducing me to this delicious place!

The High Line

Once called "The life line of New York."
Before being transformed into a public park, the High Line was used as the most important method of distributing food in NYC.

Located in the Meat Packing District and a hop, skip and a jump from Chelsea, it's an incredible place to go in order to forget you're in the city.

APOTHECARY
http://abcnews.go.com/Business/story?id=7691368&page=1

Hidden in New York City's Chinatown is a little treasure of a bar. With no sign on the door or windows to peek in, it's completely unassuming and makes the 'out for drinks' experience feel much more special.
When we went, the Apothecary bar tenders were all male and dressed in white lab coats. The drinks were mixed with fresh ingredients and although might cost a stinging amount($15), they were also powerful. The list of drinks offered different benefits for your health. The whole experience feels unique as the bar tenders (looking like scientists) use an eye dropper to measure out the portions.

I ordered the "bittersweet symphony" but wanted to try everything on the entire list. We also throughly enjoyed the jazz band there that evening.

Kenka

KENKA

25 Saint Mark's Place is home to "Kenka" (meaning fight in Japanese). It is one of my favourite restaurants I've been to in the little tokyo district and by far the busiest one. Get there fairly early or incredibly to avoid a lengthy wait.
Stepping into this izakaya makes me forget NYC and become lost in translation as all of the servers run around yelling orders out in Japanese. The best part is, they do speak English.
Every time I've been there, communist-sounding music has been bellowing from the overhead speakers. My personal favourite touches to the restaurant are the vintage posters of japanese women in the almost nude.

MENU
As you are seated at your table with miniature chairs, you begin to look for the $1.50 draft beers and the extensive menu with fantastic pictures. I always order the edemame beans and the okonomiyaki
(a delicious seafood pancake with bbq and mayonnaise sauce, accompanied by fish flakes on top)
Chopsticks

It's a guilt free eat (definitely guilt free beer prices) and at the end, when your check arrives, you get little cups of sugar to make your own pink cotton candy in the front of the shop.

Last night I craved Pinkberry over cotton candy. I didn't want to take the fun out of making it though,  so we made it and handed it to some lovely intoxicated people who happily ate it up.

Pinkberry is a whole other thing. Frozen yogurt with your choice of toppings. The fresh berries are the best! I was so happy to start a stamp card there last night!
