Art in a church

David Foote's Madonna and Child
Held in St John's Lutheran church somewhere in between the village and Chelsea, an amazing venue for an art show.
I felt a little wrong drinking unblessed red wine in a church and admiring fabulous and very unaffordable clothes worn by most of the women and men there. None-the-less, it was a beautiful evening and terrific party.

The Ice Cream Factory - Brooklyn

Rockabilly for an evening

Happy Halloween-Rockabilly couple

Our "Couple Look" Halloween costumes were decided the night we had to go out for the occasion. Peter announced last minute that he had seen this video on Japanese Rockabilly subculture and was really excited to dress up. Lucky for me, I had some random red lip stick that I never wear.

Because we live in such an eclectic area in Brooklyn, I'm pretty sure no one thought we were dressed up.

From OZ to NYC I Love Frankie

FRANKIE I LOVE YOU

Nancy, 'thank you' really doesn't do my feelings about this gift justice.
Unfortunately, the English language has limited me in expressing how thoughtful this was of you and how grateful I am.
You're lovely!

Frankie is one of my favourite magazines (besides Corduroy of course!)
While living in Australia I fell in love with the beautiful magazine only available in Australia.
Frankie soon became my link to everything pretty, inspirational and beautiful in Melbourne. The magazine is fantastic at referencing, supporting and advertising local Australian shops, designers and musicians. Who could resist such a refreshing and classic read?!

Little Cupcake Bakeshop on Prince

For the love of cake

Walking in the Little Cupcake Bakeshop on Prince Street felt like going back in time with Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday playing cheerfully in the background.

There was an endless display of delicious-looking cupcakes, cakes, pies, cookies and puddings. It was the most overwhelming trip to a bakeshop.

Peter quickly saved us a seat in the heaving popularity of the place and it was up to me to make the pick.

After an incredibly stressful few minutes of trying to decide, I went with the one that looked the most home-baked.

We shared a slice of the Hummingbird cake
(pineapple, banana, crushed pecans and cream cheese icing) and let our eyes roll in the back of our heads.

Delicious.

DYI

I once heard about a survey, that found an alarming rate of people that admitted to looking in other peoples medicine cabinets while visiting their home.

I don't know how true this really could be, nor do I really care. The reason I wanted to cover my cupboards was so that they'd look pretty.

BEFORE
I can imagine that they are organized with luxury products on the inside, until i open them up. Why not recycle gift wrapping paper like this!

Rooftop Garden in Greenpoint

Rooftop local grown
Just a block away from my 'for now' nest is this delightful rooftop garden for the public to purchase fresh veggies, free range eggs (the chickens are visible on site) and honey.
The best part is the backdrop view of Manhattan.
What a hidden treasure.

Too bad I had already stocked up on veggies earlier in the morning...
