Los Angeles II

We woke early and jumped in the car to head to Santa Monica for Peter's next Ozzie expat shoot with Libby. Libby is a yoga and nutritional guru, so there was much learning and inspiration floating around. Again, it was a lovely time and we all ended up walking down the street to an organic restaurant for a late lunch.

The greater part of the afternoon was spent up at the Getty museum.
This place stole my heart.
Everything from the little tram that takes you up the hillside, to the large space over looking the city.
There was a great exhibition on photographs of Cuba that we spent the majority of our time viewing.
LA - Billboards galore

The Getty
I was telling Peter that I looked like this lady when I fell out of my bathtub once.

I really identified with this one...

Los Angeles - I

We arrive in LA around lunch, pacific time, and found ourselves almost instantly at a mom and pop Mexican restaurant. The Mexican food on the West coast is unbelievably good, something that doesn't translate in New York.

After lunch, it was straight off to a shoot Peter was doing in a beautiful home in West Hollywood. He was shooting for the Australian Sunday Times, part of a story on Ozzie expats living in the US. Alyssa is a director, one of her movies being, "The Black Balloon." She was amazing, so warm and full of energy that we ended up sitting around chatting for an hour after all was done.

That evening we went to the LACMA museum. It was stunning, and happened to be having a jazz concert on their lawns while we were there.

We finished the evening with a scrumptious Ethiopian dinner, half the price we're accustomed to paying in NYC.

Swing Dancing on Governors Island

East River Ferry Time
After waiting a good hour in the hot sun for the ferry to arrive in Greenpoint, we hopped aboard with the crowds to make our way to Governors Island. We had heard that there was going to be Jazz in the park. We weren't prepared for the roaring 20's dress up party we walked into. I felt terribly under dressed and wished I could have spent the $200 or odd dollars to buy a new outfit on site from one of the beautiful pop up shops.

The lawn party was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon and I will be better prepared in proper attire next time!

In the midst of glorious 1920's outfits and swing dancing, I see this man looking over the dance floor with a bored expression on his face. He stuck out like a sore thumb, seeming as though he had gotten lost. I had to ask to take his picture with his shirt that says,
"I got out of bed for this?"
