Deep Water

On our walk from Greenpoint to Williamsburg, we caught sight of these incredible paintings by Ran Ornter.

In 1966, at the age of five, Ran Ortner moved from San Francisco to rural Alaska. He and his family lived in an isolated log cabin, with no running water, a wood fire for heat and a grass airstrip for a driveway. To escape the brutal winters, Ran and his family would take their single engine Cessna “Ragwing” on 3-4 month adventures from Alaska to South America. On these expeditions, Ran would turn to the open expanse of the sea to escape the confines of his unconventional childhood. When Ran was eighteen, he left home and began surfing the waves off the coasts of California and Mexico. While surfing he was able to consider both the wondrous and perilous conditions of life. Overwhelmed by what he saw and felt, he turned to art as a form of exploration. Ran has lived and worked in New York City since 1990 - he continues to surf.

The Levi's Photo Workshop

I Heart Levi's

 The evening was packed with three parties scattered in the Soho area. 

Steven Alan's gets the most points for the strongest and most delicious drinks, as well as yummy finger food. Second was definately the Levi's photo workshop and the third one is not worth mentioning, I've already forgotten about it.

My favourite part about the Levi's party was the black and white photo booth. You give one of your booth pictures to the guys creating a book for the campaign and then the others are for you.

 There was a shop set up to rent vintage cameras, print your personal pictures, use complimentary Macs and have your photo's taken by a professional in the center of the main room. 

The walls were covered in interesting photo's and the space was amazing.

All of the proceeds from the sales with this campaign are going to non-profit organizations in NYC, makes it even better!

 It's the best place to go for affordable Korean food with out having to go through the grueling task of choosing one delicious dish. 

It's all by the weight and has a vegetarian section!

It also has Soju for about $8 with a free shot glass, not too bad!

Cupcake Lover

Not super delicious. They look so much prettier than they taste. But it's a cheap way to fix a sweet craving while running around Soho.

Nothing nicer...

Sometimes there's nothing nicer...
